What DiskMapper collects
Nothing. DiskMapper contains no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no third-party services. It makes no network connections except:
- Update checks (Sparkle framework) against
diskmapper.app, once a day, which transmit only the app version being checked. You can disable automatic update checks in Settings. - The "Buy Me a Coffee" link, if you click it — this opens your browser and takes you to a third-party donation page. Nothing is sent unless you click it yourself.
Our web server counts downloads, update checks, and coffee-link clicks in aggregate — no identifiers, no cookies, no IP addresses stored.
What stays on your Mac
Everything DiskMapper knows lives locally and never leaves your machine:
- Your settings (appearance, safety, visualization thresholds), stored in macOS's standard preferences system.
- Favorite folders and scan history, stored in a local file in Application Support.
- Full Disk Access permission, which is granted and managed entirely by macOS — DiskMapper never sees or stores anything about that grant beyond what the system tells it.
DiskMapper never reads the contents of your files — only the names, sizes, dates, and folder structure it needs to map what's using space, and to identify safe-to-remove system junk.
